We are excited to have you as a new member of the NC State University Wolfpack! Let's get started with some important steps to make sure your first few months are a success!
What Should I Do First?
Before you can access your MyPack Portal or any other NC State systems, you need to change the Unity ID default password to a custom password.*
The first step is to download the DUO Mobile app.
*Note: If you have a prior affiliation with NC State, follow the Password RESET process.
If you experience any issues, contact the NC State Help Desk at either help@ncsu.edu or 919-515-4357(HELP).

Our 9-month faculty are hired effective July 1st, but have a contract start date of August 16th. The effective date for benefits is based off the July 1 hire date for an effective date of August 1st, or the health insurance effective date can be deferred to September 1st when enrolling.
Our July 1/August 16, 9-month faculty have 30 calendar days from July 1 to enroll in benefits and a mandatory retirement plan.
Retirement deductions are taken retroactively to July 1st. Failure to enroll in a mandatory retirement plan will result in a default to the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS) plan.

How to apply for a Social Security Number (SSN) – After you receive your SSN Card, contact International Compensation & Taxation (ICT) via email at ictquestions@ncsu.edu to update your SSN in the HR system.
ICT will send you a secure link to upload their SSN Card for their review and use. DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR SSN IN ANY EMAIL.
ICT will notify the I-9 team who will amend Section 1 of your I-9. You will receive an email “Need Your Confirmation of Amended I-9 Form with NC State University” from perfectcompliace.com with the link to verify and approve the amendment. Use the instructions from the link to complete the approval process.
**You will not be able to enroll in your benefits until your SSN is uploaded by ICT**
International Tax Office Assessment – Email ictquestions@ncsu.edu to initiate the tax assessment. Include your 9-digit Employee ID Number, your VISA status (e.g. F-1, H1-B, EAD), your July 1 effective date and August 16 contract date, your job title and what department you work for.
ICT will respond back with paperwork for you to complete and the process will be handled through email. You will not need to meet with their office in person.
If you are a Permanent Resident, an international tax assessment is not needed.
